About GoodScrolling

Willpower is fake. Financial consequences are very real. GoodScrolling exists because telling yourself “I'll just put the phone down” has never once worked at 2am. So instead of relying on willpower, we made scrolling past your limit cost you money — real money, sent to a real charity you actually chose.

Here's how it works: you set a daily screen time limit for the apps that eat your attention, and you pick a penalty amount you'd genuinely hate to lose. Go over your limit, and that amount gets donated to a nonprofit of your choosing. Stay under it, and nothing happens — which, weirdly, starts to feel like a win.

We're not trying to guilt anyone into feeling bad about their phone habits. We just think behavioral economics works better than good intentions, and that if you're going to doomscroll anyway, the least it can do is fund clean water, medical care, or conservation work instead of padding an ad platform's revenue.

GoodScrolling takes a small cut of donations to keep the lights on. Everything else goes to the charity you picked, through Change.io's verified nonprofit network.
